Slade Sohmer, the former Editor-in-Chief of The Recount, is facing major legal difficulties after being charged with two charges of child pornography possession and distribution. The charges derive from the discovery of pornographic photographs and films on his seized computer devices in October.

Despite the charges, Sohmer has pled not guilty and has been released on a $100,000 bond, subject to rigorous conditions such as no internet access and no contact with children. On November 10, 2023, the media figure recognized for his responsibilities as managing editor, editorial director, and radio host was arrested at his home in Otis, Massachusetts.

Sohmer, who was born in 1979 and raised in Otis, is a private person with limited knowledge about his personal life, including specifics about his parents and siblings. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University in 2001.
