Kristel Candelario, a 32-year-old woman from Ohio, faced legal trouble after her 16-month-old daughter, Jailyn Candelario, tragically passed away. Kristel left Jailyn alone in a dirty playpen at their home in Cleveland while she went on a 10-day vacation to Detroit and Puerto Rico. When she returned, she found Jailyn unresponsive and called 911, but it was too late. An investigation revealed that Jailyn had been left in unsanitary conditions, leading to her death from starvation and dehydration.

In a surprising twist, Kristel pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and child endangerment, resulting in the dismissal of other charges. She now faces the possibility of spending her life in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for March 18, and her defense attorney hinted at possible mental health challenges that may be considered during sentencing.

Kristel was born in Ecuador and moved to the United States after completing her education.
