Dickey Betts, the legendary guitarist and songwriter of the Allman Brothers Band, passed away at the age of 80. His family confirmed the news on his official Instagram page, stating that he died peacefully at his home in Osprey, FL, surrounded by loved ones.

Betts, known for hits like “Ramblin’ Man” and “Jessica,” had been battling cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He co-founded the Allman Brothers Band with Duane Allman and played a significant role in shaping Southern rock.

After the band’s hiatus, Betts focused on his solo career and side projects. Despite conflicts and health issues, his impact on music remains significant.

He is survived by his wife Donna, whom he married in 1989.
