Kelly Ripa, known for sharing much of her life on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” has always been a pillar of support for her older sister, Linda Ripa. Born to Joseph and Esther Ripa, Linda arrived on December 3, 1968, followed by Kelly on October 2, 1970. The sisters were raised in Camden County, New Jersey, in a loving and fun-filled home.

Linda pursued a career in modeling and acting before transitioning to writing, but her life took a dramatic turn in 1999 when she was severely injured in a car accident while seven months pregnant.

The accident left her with multiple broken bones, including a crushed pelvis, which put her unborn son, Sergio, in a coma. Miraculously, Sergio recovered, earning the nickname “Miracle Baby.”

Throughout Linda’s painful recovery, Kelly remained steadfast in her support. Linda, who now has three children—Sergio, Gigli, and Gianna—has shared bits of her story through interviews and social media, emphasizing the profound impact of her accident on her life.

In addition to her family responsibilities, Linda authored a children’s book, “The Ladybug Blues,” inspired by stories she told her son and nephew. Encouraged by Kelly and her parents, Linda published the book in 2002, embarking on a national book tour.

Kelly’s unwavering support extends beyond family life. Both sisters became active in Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) following Linda’s accident, with Kelly serving as a spokeswoman for the organization’s Tie One On for Safety campaign. Kelly’s admiration for Linda’s resilience underscores the importance of family and perspective in her own life.
