Rupert, who ended his engagement with Ann Lesley Smith, met Elena through his third wife, Wendi Murdoch, a friend of Elena’s daughter, Dasha Zhukova.

Born in Moscow in 1957, Elena moved to the United States in 1991 and built a successful career as a molecular biologist, working at UCLA for over three decades. She is originally from Russia and relocated to California for better opportunities.

Elena was previously married to billionaire Alexander Zhukov, with whom she has a daughter, Dasha, an art collector and socialite. Unlike her daughter, Elena maintains a low profile, keeping her personal life private.
