Robert Hepler Lowe, better known as Rob Lowe, is a prominent American actor whose career has spanned over four decades. Born on March 17, 1964, in Charlottesville, Virginia, Lowe rose to fame in the 1980s as a member of the “Brat Pack,” a group of young actors who frequently appeared together in teen-oriented films.

Lowe’s breakout role came in 1983 with the film The Outsiders, where he starred alongside other rising stars like Tom Cruise and Patrick Swayze. He quickly became a teen idol, thanks to his roles in popular films such as St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) and About Last Night (1986).

Despite early success, Lowe’s career faced challenges in the late 1980s due to a highly publicized scandal. However, he made a remarkable comeback in the 1990s with a transition to television. His portrayal of Sam Seaborn in the critically acclaimed series The West Wing (1999-2003) earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations.

Lowe continued to thrive on television with roles in series like Brothers & Sisters (2006-2010) and Parks and Recreation (2010-2015), where he played the energetic Chris Traeger. His versatility as an actor has also been showcased in miniseries such as The Stand (1994) and Behind the Candelabra (2013).

Outside of acting, Lowe is an accomplished author, having penned two memoirs: Stories I Only Tell My Friends (2011) and Love Life (2014), both of which became bestsellers. He has also ventured into directing and producing, further cementing his place in Hollywood.

In his personal life, Lowe has been married to Sheryl Berkoff since 1991, and they have two sons, Matthew and John Owen. Lowe’s journey from teen idol to respected actor and author demonstrates his resilience and adaptability in the ever-changing entertainment industry.
