Michael Kopech, the talented MLB pitcher, currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers. With a net worth of $3 million, Kopech’s career has been marked by notable achievements and challenges. From his impressive minor league performances to his recent standout moments with the Chicago White Sox, Kopech’s journey through professional baseball has been both dynamic and eventful.
Born on April 30, 1996, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, Michael Kopech demonstrated an early affinity for baseball. He attended Mount Pleasant High School, where he quickly gained recognition for his skills on the mound. In just 11 games, Kopech boasted an impressive 3-0 record with a 0.44 ERA and earned 2014 Perfect Game First-Team All-American honors. Although he committed to play college baseball at the University of Arizona, Kopech opted to start his professional career instead.
Kopech was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft, 33rd overall. He began his career in the minor leagues with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox and quickly moved through the ranks. In 2015, he played for the Greenville Drive and showed promise with a 2.63 ERA. His talent continued to shine in subsequent seasons with the Lowell Spinners and the Salem Red Sox, where he was named Carolina League Player of the Month. Kopech’s progress was briefly interrupted by a trade to the Chicago White Sox in late 2016.
Kopech made his MLB debut with the White Sox in August 2018 but was sidelined by Tommy John surgery shortly after. He missed the 2019 season and part of 2020 due to the pandemic. Upon his return in 2021, Kopech transitioned to a bullpen role, posting a 3.50 ERA over 44 games. His performance in 2022 and 2023 was inconsistent, marred by injuries and challenges on the mound. Despite a notable achievement in 2024—throwing an immaculate inning—he faced difficulties with a 4.74 ERA.
In July 2024, Kopech was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, transitioning from one of MLB’s worst teams to a top contender. He joined the Dodgers on a 1-year, $3 million contract.
Kopech’s personal life has been as eventful as his career. In 2019, he became engaged to Canadian actress Vanessa Morgan, and the couple married in early 2020 before divorcing five months later. Morgan gave birth to their son in early 2021. Kopech also welcomed a second son with fitness instructor Morgan Eudy in 2022, and the couple became engaged in 2023, adding another child to their growing family.
