Pakistani actor, director, and producer Yasir Nawaz has recently stirred controversy with his suggestion that the government should pass a law requiring wives to arrange their husbands’ second marriages. Nawaz made this statement during a podcast episode featuring his wife, Nida Yasir, his brother Danish Nawaz, and actor Mani.
The discussion on the podcast touched on various social issues in a light-hearted manner. The topic of why married couples sometimes sleep in separate rooms was also addressed. Nawaz argued, “It’s essential for husbands and wives to live together and sleep together to strengthen their relationship,” emphasizing that separate sleeping arrangements can weaken the bond between couples.
Actor Mani shared that he occasionally sleeps in a separate room because his “children are now grown up and they sleep with their mother.” He also declined to consider a second marriage, citing the current economic hardships, stating, “No one can think of a second marriage in this era of inflation.”
In a jest, Yasir Nawaz proposed a law mandating that wives arrange a second marriage for their husbands every 15 years, adding, “The law should also state that a wife who does not comply will be put behind bars.” Nida Yasir humorously responded, “All talk and no action. Let him fulfill his happiness, let them just talk.” Yasir Nawaz later clarified that he was “not talking about remarrying but advising the government.”
