Actor and musician Noah Taylor, an Australian native of British descent, has left a lasting impression in both film and television. Taylor has a $3 million net worth and has a long career spanning several decades. He has been recognized for his varied performances in both small-scale and big-budget Hollywood productions. In addition to acting, Taylor has followed his love of music, which has made him an adaptable artist with an extensive fan base.
Taylor was born in London on September 4, 1969, to Australian parents. When he was five years old, his family relocated to Australia, where he was raised in Melbourne. The St. Martins Youth Arts Centre ignited his passion for acting, and at the age of 17, he landed his first movie role. Alongside Nicole Kidman and Thandiwe Newton, Taylor starred in The Year My Voice Broke and its follow-up Flirting, which brought him early notoriety.
Taylor’s big break came in 1996 when he played a young David Helfgott in the highly regarded biopic Shine, which was nominated for seven Academy Awards. Later, he acted in a number of well-known movies, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Vanilla Sky, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Along with The Proposition and The Life Aquatic starring Steve Zissou, Taylor also dabbled in more experimental filmmaking. His flexibility was on full display in the science fiction smash Edge of Tomorrow, where he skillfully combined big-budget blockbusters with more intimate, character-driven parts.
Although Noah Taylor debuted on television in 1987, he didn’t establish himself as a mainstay until the 2010s. He became well-known throughout the world for his roles as Darby Sabini in Peaky Blinders and Locke in Game of Thrones. His recurrent parts in Powers, Preacher, and the most recent miniseries A Small Light, in which he played Fritz Pfeffer, are among his other noteworthy performances.
In addition to acting, Taylor is also active in music, releasing out his debut album, Popular Music for All Peoples, under the name C.B.M. in 2001. Later, he and his band, Noah Taylor & the Sloppy Boys, issued an EP called Live Free or Die!!!. Australian fashion designer Dionne Harris and Taylor tied the knot, and they currently call Brighton, East Sussex, home.
