Severe cold waves in the United States (US) has suspended the routine life of the citizens.

According to a foreign news agency, stormy snowfall has started in several parts in the US including New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, causing serious issues for the citizens.

In other parts of the country, snowfall of up to 18 inches has also created havoc for the travellers.

Most of the roads in New York are blocked due to heavy snowfall, while trees and streets blankets the white snow all over.

According to reports, Newark Liberty International Airport currently has one of the highest rates of delayed and cancelled flights in the country.

However, passengers attempting to fly out of John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports are experiencing problems, too.

Late and cancelled flights have been lighting up departure boards at Newark.

About a third of all flights — more than 500 — are delayed this Sunday after Thanksgiving, reports said.

The winter storm terrorizing the Northeast now already pounded the Upper Midwest with heavy snow, the National Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, the West Coast is dealing with snow, floods and power outages.

Heavy rain is expected to hit New York City before transitioning to a snowy mix by morning, and the city can expect 3 to 5 inches of snow by Monday’s end, forecasters say.
