With the outset of Ramadan in Pakistan, most of the cities including Karachi have been experiencing rain and thunderstorms turning the weather pleasant for the citizens.

Widespread falls with strong winds have hit parts of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and KP under the influence of a westerly wave that entered the country on March 22.

Meanwhile, the metropolitan city is expected to witness falls today as well westerly winds would continue to prevail in the region.

The meteorological department has said that there have been chances of drizzle and light rain in the city today that will stay till night.

The wind is blowing at a speed of 8 km per hour from the northwest direction in the city.

On the other hand, the provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) has said that there is a chance of flooding in low-lying areas in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to heavy rain.

“Strong winds or hail may damage standing crops and weak infrastructure.”

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has already issued a guideline in this regard alerting that more rain and wind will hit the city and stay till Sunday.

The weather system, it said, might cause widespread rain-wind and thunderstorms with isolated and scattered heavy falls and hailstorms in Islamabad as well as the Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
