The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered authorities to impose a smog emergency to minimize potential health damage to residents.

The court also directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to be included in the smog emergency.

Besides, the court ordered to give guidance to children against smog in the school assemblies.

An order has also been passed to seal smog-producing industries in the city, along with the creation of an emergency helpline for the guidance of citizens.

In a surprising order by the LHC, employees of government and private institutions have been directed to come to work on bicycles.
