12 Gambians imprisoned in Libya freed

The Gambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Monday that 12 Gambians had been freed from Libyan jails after serving their sentences and were awaiting return.

The Gambian citizens who had already completed a one-year prison sentence would be deported under the International Organization for Migration’s Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme on the next available charter flight, according to the ministry.
