Destitute families receive cash assistance in Afghan’s northern provinces

The process of distributing cash assistance to needy people in Afghanistan’s northern Badakhshan province began on Sunday and will be finished on Monday, according to Mawlawi Mohammad Akram Akbari, the provincial director for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs.

The official said, each family will get 21,000 Afghanis (238 dollars) as planned, and the initiative will benefit 850 households from around the province.

Previously, the state minister for disaster management and humanitarian affairs delivered monetary aid to needy families in the provinces of western Ghor, Herat, and eastern Logar.

According to aid organizations, more than 22 million of Afghanistan’s 35 million people are experiencing severe food shortages, and the war-torn country will face a humanitarian disaster if it is not helped.
