Los Angeles: California Governor Gavin Newsom tested positive for COVID-19 and will be kept in isolation at least until June 2 and until he tests negative, according to his office.

While working remotely, Newsom announced on Twitter that he is “experiencing moderate symptoms” and is “following health rules and will be isolated.”

According to the statement, he has been vaccinated and has gotten two booster doses, the most recent of which was on May 18.

COVID-19 transmission rates have been gradually increasing in California, which has a population of over 40 million people.

According to the California Department of Public Health, the state has recorded a total of 8,896,174 COVID-19 cases and 90,612 linked fatalities as of Friday.
