According to Syria’s transport ministry, runways at Damascus International Airport are still closed due to a missile strike. Syria’s state media acknowledged that an Israeli missile attack on Damascus International Airport caused significant damage; including to runways.

According to the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA); the Syrian transport ministry announced in a statement on Saturday that runways at the capital’s airport remained out of service following the attack on Friday. “As a result of the Israeli aggression, landing and departing flights were suspended today until further notification,” SANA quoted from a ministry statement, “because it caused heavy damages to the airstrips in several localities and to the navigation lights, in addition to the damages [that] occurred in the airport lobby.”

Flights are anticipated to resume “in partnership with air carriers” as soon as repair work is completed, according to SANA.
