After losing his legislative majority, Macron declines PM resignation; ahead of discussions with the opposition aimed at breaking the gridlock; created by Macron losing a majority in parliamentary elections.

Macron set to meet with far-right leader Marine Le Pen; and other political party leaders at the Elysee Palace for rare talks as he seeks solutions to an unprecedented situation; that threatens to throw his second term into disarray just two months after it began.

Borne, who has been accused for leading a lacklustre campaign; reportedly offered her resignation to Macron, but the French president declined.

Macron believes the administration must “remain on task and act,” and in negotiations with opposition parties; he would seek “constructive solutions” to the political impasse, according to a presidential official.
