A bomb blast happened in Myanmar’s main city, Yangon, killed at least one person and injured nine people on Tuesday, according to Myanmar’s state-run media.

According to the report, the explosion happened around 3:20 p.m. local time (0850 GMT) near a bus stop in Yangon’s Kyauktada Township.

According to the report, the attack in the heart of Yangon was carried out with a homemade bomb.
Since a military coup deposed Aung San Suu Kyi’s civilian administration, the Southeast Asian country has been in chaos, with anti-junta parties battling with the military on a regular basis.

A local volunteer paramedic told AFP that his team had brought two critically injured patients to the hospital soon after the blast.

According to the police source, security officials subsequently discovered an unexploded grenade near the detonation scene.

As per junta’s communications team, one guy in his 30s died from his injuries after being carried to a hospital, while nine others were being treated.

The detonation was caused by a “homemade mine,” according to the report, which blamed the attack on “People’s Defence Force” fighters, which have popped up in response to the military’s violent crackdown on dissent.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the incident.

The bomb was criticised by a shadow government headed by MPs from Aung San Suu Kyi’s evicted party, which is attempting to overthrow the coup.

In a statement, the country’s defence ministry stated, “We strongly condemn this terrorist attack targeting people.”
