Pop star Lizzo recently changed the lyrics after fans protested the song was abusive.

Grrrls, published last week, initially introduced a term for cerebral palsy called spastic paralysis in the first verse. Fans asked to change the song to alternative lyrics, saying “I was surprised” and “I was disappointed”.

Given the star, he released a new version on Monday night without “harmful words”. “I never want to spread offensive language,” he said on social media. “As an obese woman in America, I understand that many hurtful things (in my case, intentional or not) can be harsh.

Edited in a hurry, Grrrls added: “It’s the result of what I’ve heard and acted on.” “As a famous artist, I am ready to be part of the change I look forward to in the world.”

The new version replaces the original version on streaming services such as Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.

Over the weekend, fans criticized the singer’s choice of lyrics, noting that derogatory language was often used to attack people with disabilities. One of them, Hannah Divini, used Twitter to explain why the word offended people.

“Cerebral palsy is literally classified as spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, which basically means that there is a certain stiffness or tightness in the leg,” he told the a news channel. “It’s something I have no control over and it makes my life very hard and difficult. It’s really weird to see that this word means someone is losing control or is emotionally stressed. Not at all.”

Lizzo described him as a “true ally” and changed the text after following the tweet.
