As fury over remarks against the Prophet Muhammad rises, posters were put on a bridge in Surat, Gujarat, calling for the arrest of Nupur Sharma, the now-suspended BJP spokeswoman whose remarks on the Prophet sparked the controversy.

The posters were hung on Surat’s Jilani Bridge. The identity of the poster’s creator has yet to be determined, according to police. The perpetrators behind the posters are being tracked down using CCTV video.

Nupur Sharma was suspended after the video of her making the statements went viral, causing uproar throughout the world. Several charges have been filed against her for injuring religious sentiments.

The BJP issued a statement in which it stated that it respects all religions and firmly condemns disrespect to religious figures. Sharma then unconditionally retracted her comments.
