The Russian parliament passed two laws; one of which removed Russia from the court’s jurisdiction and the other of which established March 15 as the cut-off date for any judgements against Russia made after that day. Russia withdrew from the organisation, of which the ECHR is a member, on March 15. The Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers planned to vote to expel Russia in reaction to Putin’s deployment of soldiers in Ukraine in February.
