Vietnam has seen a drop in road accidents in first five months

HANOI: According to the Road Police Department on Wednesday, 4,733 road accidents occurred in Vietnam from January to May this year, killing 2,761 people and injuring 3,078 others.

As per the report, 1,649 persons were critically injured.

The number of traffic accidents decreased by 8.7% year over year, while the death toll increased by 4%, according to official figures.

In the first five months of this year, Vietnam had an average of 31 traffic accidents each day, with 18 people killed and 20 injured.

According to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office, there were 11,454 road incidents registered in the Southeast Asian country in 2021, with over 5,700 persons killed and almost 8,000 injured.
