In a Mi-8 helicopter crash on July 29 in the mountain resort of Gudauri, four crew members; two rescuers, and two paramedics perished.

One pilot and his passenger from a paraglider that had crashed in the same area; earlier were being sought after by the rescue crew. The traveller, who authorities say was a foreign tourist; but whose name is not in revelation, is dead. The pilot is receiving medical care for his injuries and is alive.
