ANTARA: Jakarta The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency reports; that a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Malang District of East Java early on Saturday; although no tsunami warning issued (BMKG). According to the agency’s announcement on its official website, the earthquake; which occurred at 3:27 a.m. local time; was centred 10 kilometres under the surface, 171.54 kilometres southwest of Lumajang, East Java.

Residents of Karangkates, Malang District, felt the tremor; which was classified as MMI scale II. Typically, an MMI II earthquake was felt by some persons; and caused the light objects that were hanging to tremble.

The 5.2-magnitude earthquake prompted the BMKG; to warn nearby inhabitants to be cautious of aftershocks.
