Jill Biden tests positive for COVID
The White House said on Tuesday that Jill Biden, the first lady, tested positive for Covid. She tested negative for Covid on Monday “during her normal testing cadence,” according to a statement from her communications director, Elizabeth Alexander, but “began to have cold-like symptoms late in the evening.”
“She once more tested negative on a fast antigen test, but a PCR test revealed a positive result. The First Lady has received two booster shots and two vaccinations, and she is only showing moderate effects “Alexander said.
According to the announcement, the first lady, 71, has been given the antiviral Paxlovid and will remain alone for at least five days.
“The First Lady’s close friends and family have been informed. As soon as she obtains the results of two consecutive negative COVID tests, she will leave the private property in South Carolina where she is presently residing “Alexander stated.
Since last week, the first lady and President Joe Biden have been taking a vacation on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. For activities at the Walt Disney World Resort, she was scheduled to fly to Orlando, Florida, on Thursday.
Just a few weeks after the president tested positive for the virus in July, her positive diagnosis was made. When he tested positive again at the end of the month after a few days of testing negative, he was given Paxlovid right away, and his doctor regarded this as a “rebound” instance brought on by the medication. The first lady’s test results at the time were negative.
Biden’s antigen test results on Tuesday morning, according to the White House, were negative.
The White House announced that he will wear a mask for 10 days when indoors and in close proximity to other people as a close friend of the first lady. It further stated that it would increase his testing frequency and submit the results.
On Tuesday, Biden will make remarks and sign the comprehensive health care and climate legislation that Congress passed last week upon his return to the White House from South Carolina. He’s scheduled to go to Wilmington, Delaware, after that.
