In Innishrush, County Londonderry, people threw fireworks at homes and called them names. The police are treating this as a hate crime.

On Friday night, people may have tried to break into homes in the Mill Park and Millers Hill parts of the village.

Even though no one was hurt and no damage was reported, the police called it “reckless.”

There were no arrests, but police said they “talked to” a group of young people at the scene.

Glenn Moore of the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) party said that he had seen a video of a situation where young people were shouting slogans in support of the IRA and other republican groups.

He said that the attacks in the middle of the night “clearly upset residents, especially the elderly and young children.”

Insp. Kyle Lucas said that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) would increase patrols in Innishrush and keep a “proactive presence” in the area over the next few weeks.

“Anyone involved in this type of reckless activity needs to stop and think of the consequences, not just for them, but also how it affects people living in the area.”
