Always one to put on a show, President Donald Trump hinted once more on Sunday that he may declare his desire to run for president again in 2024 before the midterm election season is over.

“I ran twice, I won twice,” he says, repeating the false claim that he was the actual winner of the 2020 presidential election.

The ramifications of President Trump’s false claims that he had won the election in 2020 were widespread.

On January 6, 2021, a gang of his followers attacked the Capitol building in an effort to reverse Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election just as lawmakers were ready to certify the results.

At a rally he had urged his supporters to march “peacefully” to the Capitol, but also made unsubstantiated claims of massive voter fraud and told them to “fight like hell”.

During the violence, five people lost their lives, and President Trump made history by becoming the first president to be impeached twice, despite the fact that he was never convicted.
