Vice President Joe Biden spoke with Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday, following a shooting rampage at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, in which at least six people were killed,

According to the statement released by the White House, the president assured the governor of “his support and any federal assistance.”

After a shooting at a nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this weekend, Vice President Joe Biden once again called for congressional action, specifically for an assault weapons ban; however, the reality of a divided Congress makes it unlikely that this will happen.

Biden released a statement on Wednesday morning in which he expressed his grief and gratitude to the first responders. In the statement, he also called for “greater action.”
