Israeli forces killed a 16-year-old Palestinian in Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

Jana Majdi Zakarneh was killed on Monday, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Local reports say Zakarneh was shot on her roof. Ministry stated she was a headshot.

At least two Palestinians were wounded in the raid, officials added.

Sunday night at 10 pm, Israeli special forces invaded Jenin and its refugee camp. Israeli soldiers fought Palestinian teenagers and fighters.

The Israeli military said it was investigating the assassination of a Palestinian woman.

Atta Abu Rmeileh, a Jenin official, called for a countrywide strike Monday to mourn the Zakarneh. Later today, she’ll be buried.

Zakarneh is one of more than 50 Palestinian youngsters killed by Israel in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip this year. She’s one of 215 Palestinians, including 17 women, killed in 2022.

2022 was the deadliest year in the West Bank for Palestinians since 2006.

Since last year, tensions have risen. Near-daily Israeli military operations and killings in Palestinian cities and villages occur alongside a spike in Palestinian armed attacks and settler violence against Palestinians.

Jenin and Nablus, where Palestinian armed resistance is growing, have been targeted.

Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in Jenin and Ramallah on Thursday, including a 15-year-old.

Israel has lost 25 lives.
