A signed transcript of Jacinda Ardern insulting an opposition leader sold for $63,200.

Following a heated confrontation with David Seymour, microphones picked up the offensive comment.

Ms. Ardern later apologized for the statement, and Mr. Seymour suggested they raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

The PM thanked Thursday’s bidders.

Ms. Ardern took issue when Mr. Seymour, leader of the right-wing libertarian ACT party, advised her to “make a mistake, apologize properly, and repair it”

Ms. Ardern defended her Labour government’s record before muttering “Arrogant prick.”

Mr. Seymour called for an apology, and the statement was recorded in Hansard.

The couple, who usually disagree politically, decided to turn the situation around. Both signed a framed transcript of the official parliamentary record that includes the comment.

The charity auction winner said he would need a loan to pay the NZ$100,100 (£52,200) winning offer.

Julian Shorten stated his acquisition was “a milestone in New Zealand political history”

Mr. Seymour added, “Interest was beyond imagination.”

“She agreed when I suggested it,” he said. “The generosity of bidders has blown me away.”

Ms. Ardern said on Facebook, “Can’t say I expected this” before praising Mr. Seymour for “being a good sport.”

Ms Ardern’s Labour Party won a huge victory in 2020, and she has had excellent approval ratings for much of her two mandates.

Ms. Ardern is under pressure since New Zealand will vote in 2023. Her Labour Party trails the rival National Party in surveys.
