Scott Minerd, Guggenheim Partners’ global chief investment officer, died of a heart attack during a workout.

Minerd joined Guggenheim after its 1999 inception.

His remarks on macroeconomic trends were followed by investors and 169,000 Twitter followers. He was one of the decade’s best bond investors.

Minerd got the 2017 High North Hero Award for advocating long-term investment in the Arctic to showcase its economic potential.

Today in Bod, Norway, Minerd accepted the honor.

Minerd has campaigned for long-term Arctic investments in recent years.

Minerd is noted for his work on the Arctic Investing Protocol, a World Economic Forum program that outlines ethical investment in the Arctic.

Minerd used his High North Hero award money to promote future Arctic entrepreneurs. The High North Center awards High North Young Entrepreneurs.
