Woman injured in Jersey blast dies of injuries
After a lady who was hurt in the explosion passed away in the hospital, Jersey police said on Monday that the number of fatalities from an explosion at an apartment building earlier this month had risen to 10.
The three-story building in Jersey’s capital city of St. Helier was completely destroyed by the explosion at a housing complex on the island of Jersey, which is located off the coast of northern France.
According to authorities, Kathleen McGinness, 73, who resided in a building next to the one that collapsed, passed away on Sunday.
“This incident has been incredibly challenging for everyone involved and I would like to praise the families for their stoicism in the face of such tragic circumstances,” Chief of Police Robin Smith said in a statement.
The explosion, which took place in the early hours of December 10th, is still being investigated by the police as to what caused it.
The previous evening, residents had informed the fire department that their neighborhood smelled like gas.
