In Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, there was an explosion on Wednesday that resulted in injuries, according to a police official.

According to Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Kabul police, the explosion happened at 4 p.m. local time (1130 GMT). On how many people were killed, he gave no specifics.

The Islamic State terrorists have waged an uprising against the Taliban-run government, attacking foreigners at specific locations including the Russian and Pakistani embassies and a hotel that caters to Chinese businessmen.

The explosion happened during a busy period of the day in a heavily protected region that was bordered by checkpoints on a roadway where numerous ministries were located.

An individual who requested anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media recalled hearing a loud explosion and afterwards being evacuated from their building while working in a nearby office.

A few nations, like China and Turkey, also have embassies nearby.
