While in Coventry, a garbage collector passed away. The fatality occurred earlier on Thursday, according to the city council, which said it was cooperating with the police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The senior collecting team member passed away on a residential round on Guild Road in the neighborhood of Foleshill.

To ensure the crew’s welfare, services have been paused for the remainder of the day, according to Coventry City Council.

Just before 10:00 GMT, paramedics were rushed to the scene of a rubbish collection vehicle accident, according to the ambulance service.

The victim was discovered to be in serious condition, but regrettably nothing could be done to save him, and at the scene, authorities declared him dead.

While the event is being investigated, collections throughout the city are anticipated to be impacted.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the senior crew member who has tragically lost his life while at work this morning,” a council spokesperson said.

“The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into this tragic incident, and we will be cooperating fully with them and the police as part of that.

“We are offering our full support to the crew involved and the wider workforce,” it added.

West Midlands Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish what had happened.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man at this deeply distressing time,” it said in a statement.

According to the HSE, it was informed of the event and was assisting the police with their enquiry.
