As the House continues voting for a fourth round, it would appear that Republican Party Leader Kevin McCarthy has been unable to secure the necessary number of votes to become speaker.

It is not clear how many people are now present on the floor.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy, who has been embroiled in controversy recently, faces competition from a new candidate in the fourth round of voting for House speaker.

On Wednesday, Texas Representative Chip Roy put forward Florida Representative Byron Donalds as his candidate for the position.

“We do not seek to judge people by the color of their skin but rather the content of their character,” he said. “There’s an important reason for nominating Byron, and that is, this country needs a change. This country needs leadership that does not reflect this city, this town that is badly broken.”
