Nearly a month after federal officials declared activity at Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano to have stopped, it started erupting once more on Thursday. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, webcam images of the Halemaumau crater in the volcano’s top caldera showed lava flow.

The organisation raised the volcano’s alert status from watch to warning and stated that it was assessing potential risks. According to the statement, the eruption has so far just affected the crater.
Since 1983, the volcano in Hawaii’s Big Island’s Volcanoes National Park has frequently erupted.

When fractures in its lower East Rift Zone erupted in 2018, lava covered 13 square miles of the area, destroying 700 homes and other structures.

Between September 2021 until last month, Kilauea last erupted.

Following a string of significant earthquakes in November, Mauna Loa, the largest active volcano in the world, erupted once more on Hawaii’s Big Island. It had not erupted for 38 years.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory of the USGS reported that Mauna Loa’s eruptions had stopped a month later.
