On Saturday, a large fire broke out at an oil refinery in northwest Iran, according to the unofficial Fars News Agency.

In the province of East Azerbaijan, the refinery is close to the city of Tabriz.

According to Fars, “the firefighting is still ongoing and was challenging to put out due to the size and intensity of the fire.”

According to Fars, the accident’s cause is being looked into.

According to Fars, Mohammad Baqer Hanbar, director general of crisis management for the East Azerbaijan Governorate, “Right now, 25 fire engines at the location are extinguishing the fire.”

According to Fars citing Hanbar, “So far, one firefighter has been hurt in this event who suffered from smoke inhalation, and the individual is in stable condition.”
