Russian soldiers shelled parts of the Kherson region in southern Ukraine 79 times on Monday, killing two persons, according to the head of the Kherson area military administration, Yaroslav Yanushevych.

“The enemy fired at peaceful settlements of the region from artillery, MLRS, mortars and tanks,” Yanushevych wrote on Telegram.

According to him, two persons were killed and nine residents were injured.

“The Russian army attacked Kherson city 32 times. Enemy shells hit a car market, a utility company, private and apartment buildings,” he added.

The casualty toll from a strike on Russian barracks in Makiivka, eastern Ukraine, remains unknown, with a senior Russian combat blogger disputing Moscow’s official total.

In other news, Ukrainian authorities have accused two top Russian officers for the first time with crimes relating to the attack on Ukrainian citizens.
