Rishi Sunak has expressed regret for disengaging his seatbelt as a passenger in the rear seat of a car in order to record a social media footage.

During a journey to the north of England, the PM’s spokesman said that he made a “error of judgement” by briefly unbuckling his seatbelt.

The video was uploaded to Mr. Sunak’s Instagram account to advertise the most recent round of “levelling up” expenditure.

The spokesman added the PM “believes everyone should wear a seatbelt”.

However, keen observers noticed Mr. Sunak didn’t seem to be buckled up during the footage.

The PM also came under fire for utilizing a jet during a series of visits to northern cities in connection with a £2 billion levelling up funding announcement.
