According to a report released on Tuesday, University of Alabama basketball player Darius Miles allegedly supplied the firearm used in the campus-area gunfight that resulted in the death of one lady.

According to a local news channel, Miles, 21, told authorities that he supplied 20-year-old Michael Lynn Davis with the gun that Davis used to start shooting at a car in downtown Tuscaloosa, killing Jamea Harris who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Citing court records, the outlet said that Davis was recognised by onlookers as the shooter and that police had access to Ring doorbell footage of the sad murder.

For the incident, Miles, who was promptly fired from the Crimson Tide football team, has been charged with capital murder.

The deceased, a 23-year-old mother of one, was shot and killed on “The Strip” close to campus while visiting her college-going cousin. Her mother described the woman as “a humble soul” who cherished her 5-year-old son Kaine.

It appears that an incident preceded the shooting on Sunday morning.

“It appears at this time that the shooting was the result of a minor argument that occurred between the victims and suspects after they encountered each other along The Strip,’’ Tuscaloosa police Capt. Jack Kennedy said.

Miles was observed crying as the police took him away after his arrest.

In audio from a local news site, he could be heard saying, “I swear I love you more than you can imagine.”

The basketball player, a reserve for the squad, suffered an ankle injury on Saturday and was later declared out for the year.
