On New Year’s Eve, only moments after falling into the pile’s small open hole, Ly Hao Nam was heard pleading for assistance; nevertheless, on Monday, he remained silent.

Vietnam’s HANOI On Monday, two days after the 10-year-old child was rescued in Vietnam after falling under a concrete pile at a construction site on New Year’s Eve, rescuers were frantically attempting to free him.

When rescuers dropped a camera to try to find Ly Hao Nam’s position in the 115-foot-long support pillar on Monday, they got no response from him despite the fact that his cries for help were heard quickly after he went into the pile on Saturday morning.

The tragedy happened while the child and his buddies were looking for scrap iron at a bridge construction site in the Mekong delta area.

According to Le Hoang Bao, director of the Dong Thap province’s Department of Transport, “I cannot comprehend how he fell into the hollow concrete pile,” which has a diameter of less than 10 inches and was driven 115 feet into the ground.

Reports in the media stated that attempts to remove the mound with cranes and excavators had so far failed and that rescuers were unable to locate the youngster.

Rescue workers have injected oxygen into the pile and softened the dirt surrounding it, but the pile has slightly slanted, making evacuation attempts more challenging.
