Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that Israel is sending humanitarian help to Syria, a nation with which it is officially at war.

According to Netanyahu, Israel had received the aid request “from a diplomatic element,” though he did not identify the officials.

Syria and Israel don’t have any official ties.

The Israeli leader declared that he had granted the request and predicted that it would be implemented “shortly.”

Israel is also deploying two rescue and medical aid missions on Monday in response to a request for assistance from the Turkish authorities, he continued.
