A 14-year-old who killed a woman while riding a privately owned electric scooter has received a sentence.

On June 2, the unnamed kid struck Linda Davis on a sidewalk in Rainworth, Nottinghamshire.

Six days later, the 71-year-old grandma passed away in the hospital.

He previously admitted to causing death by operating a vehicle in violation of a license at Nottingham Youth Court, where he was given a 12-month referral order.

At a hearing in February, he also acknowledged causing death by operating a vehicle without insurance.

He was prohibited from operating a vehicle for five years.

He was given a six-month parenting order, and both of his parents were made to pay the victim surcharge of £26 as well as the £85 cost of the prosecution.

District Judge Leo Pyle informed the court that the defendant had already fractured his thumb while riding it once before, just six days after the defendant’s father had purchased the e-scooter for him.

When Mrs. Davis was attacked in Southwell Road East, she fell and injured her head as she did so. Mrs. Davis was there with her husband, Gary, who had parked and gotten out to enter a store.

Mr. Davis referred to his wife as “my spark and the center of my world” in a victim impact statement.

Privately owned e-scooters are prohibited from being used on sidewalks, footpaths, bike lanes, and cycle tracks.

They must adhere to regulations, including being insured, taxed, and used with the appropriate safety equipment, in order to be used on public roads.
