Emmanuel Macron has joined EU leaders in Brussels for their meeting in March away from the demonstrations taking place throughout France.

He has no plans to discuss pensions today. EU leaders are expected to discuss economic competitiveness and backing for Ukraine, and France and Germany are at odds over a 2035 ban on the sale of new fossil fuel-powered vehicles.

“Troublemakers” are assembling in Paris in the meantime.

According to the French channel BFMTV, “at least 350-400 people” are firing “big” fireworks and aiming them at a McDonald’s in the Strasbourg-St. Denis region.

They are all wearing black clothing.

A reporter on the site claimed that the police are retaliating with tear gas but that it is difficult to disperse the “troublemakers” due to the large number of people present.

The reporter continues, “But the protest is very well attended, and it’s important to note that most of the protesters are very peaceful.”
