S. Jaishankar, the foreign minister of India, stated on Thursday that the G20 foreign ministers’ “differing viewpoints” on the Russia-Ukraine crisis prevented them from agreeing to release a united statement.

The nations were able to reach agreement during the first significant G20 summit in New Delhi on subjects like global skill mapping, multilateral banks, and counterterrorism.

Jaishankar claims that despite this, they refrained from making a statement in which they concurred on all points and measures.

“There were issues, and they were concerned about the Russia-Ukraine conflict. We got a joint document built on the bulk of the problems, but various parties held differing opinions on several topics,” said Jaishankar at a news conference.

He continued, stating the global south still needs assistance, that the impact of this conflict on nations affected by the coronavirus pandemic is detrimental.
