Moscow is still unsure of who was responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to former security chief and secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.

Asserting earlier statements from the Kremlin that media claims of a “pro-Ukrainian” organisation behind the attack were “hard to accept,” Patrushev said in an interview with the Russian publication newer reports of Ukrainian involvement are suspicious.

Patrushev reiterated that Russia wants an objective investigation into the explosions. “Without it, the voicing of unilateral subjective versions of the terrorist attack does not explain anything,” he said.

German public network ARD cites its own investigation in saying that on September 6, 2022, a nameless boat that the German prosecutor’s office believes may have been transporting explosives connected to the blasts last September departed from the Baltic Sea port of Rostock, Germany.

The ARD story cited unnamed security sources from five different nations.

According to ARD, there were six individuals on board the boat, including a female doctor, two divers, two assistant divers, and a male captain.
