A 25-year-old Israeli woman is being celebrated as a hero for her courageous actions in defending the residents of the Nir Am Kibbutz, located just a mile from Gaza, against advancing Hamas gunmen.

Inbal Lieberman, who has been serving as the security coordinator of Kibbutz Nir Am since December 2022, played a pivotal role in leading the defense efforts that ultimately saved the entire community.

The situation began when Ms. Lieberman noticed unusual explosions early one Saturday morning, distinct from the typical rocket attacks.

Responding swiftly, she hurried to access the town’s armory and distributed firearms to the 12-member security team.

She effectively coordinated their response, strategically positioning the kibbutz’s standby security personnel to set up an ambush for any approaching Hamas members.

What followed was an intense gun battle that raged on for nearly four hours until Israeli security forces arrived on the scene.

According to reports from local media and the New York Post, the 25-year-old Inbal Lieberman managed to personally eliminate five Hamas operatives, while the other members of her security team successfully neutralized an additional 20 during this four-hour ordeal.

Ilit Paz, the cultural coordinator of Nir Am, shared with the local news outlet Israel Hayom, “It was truly remarkable. My husband was part of the standby unit tasked with preventing further casualties.

Upon hearing gunshots, they independently communicated with other standby unit members and Inbar. They recognized the need to remain prepared.”

“Inbal chose not to wait for orders but acted proactively. In fact, their early actions averted numerous casualties,” Ms. Paz emphasized.

A social media post also commended this courageous woman, stating, “Once this ordeal concludes, Inbal deserves to receive the Israel Prize.

Her heroic actions will become a legendary tale in Israeli history for generations to come. Inbal is the reason why the entire surrounding area, including Nir Am, remains unscathed.” This information comes from the same post, as reported.
