Florida Ferris wheel breaks down with over 60 passengers

When the ride’s power went out at ICON Park in Orlando, Florida, firefighters reported that more than sixty passengers needed to be rescued from the Ferris wheel.

After suffering a power failure on Saturday evening, the ride known as “the Wheel” at ICON Park had to be shut down, and according to Orange County Fire Rescue, at least 62 passengers had to be removed from the attraction.

Sparks and smoke can be seen emanating from the ride’s machinery in video footage that was captured on a smartphone just before it broke down.

ICON Park announced that the attraction would be out of commission for at least a few days while a technical team performed maintenance on it. The officials of the park did not disclose what caused the Wheel’s loss of power.
