Several universities and colleges in Islamabad have been shut down due to the potential threat of a terrorist attack leading up to the upcoming elections.

The decision to close educational institutions comes amid a rise in terrorism incidents in the country in the months leading to the national elections scheduled for 8th February .

On Monday, four universities—Quaid-e-Azam University, Air University, Bahria University, and National Defence University—were closed following a security alert indicating the possibility of an attack by a female suicide bomber.

In response to the disruption in educational activities, university administrations announced the closure until January 26, 2024.
