Google Chrome for Android is reportedly planning to integrate with third-party password managers, providing more options for users. At present, users are restricted to using the built-in Google Password Manager for autofill features. This integration will enable Android users who favor other password management solutions to use their saved login details within the Chrome browser seamlessly.

Interestingly, this change follows the recent enhancement to Chrome’s desktop Safe Browsing feature, which now provides real-time protection.

On X (previously known as Twitter), @Leopeva64, a tipster, stated: “This feature now works and if you choose the ‘Use other providers’ option, Chrome no longer shows you suggestions from its password manager.”

It’s worth noting that this feature, which is currently available on Chrome Stable, Beta, and Canary builds, was first noticed by the tipster in November of the previous year when it was still in development.

The feature can be enabled at chrome://flags/#enable-autofill-virtual-view-structure.

Once activated, the setting will become visible. Subsequently, navigate to Chrome Settings > Autofill options and select Use other providers. Once this setting is modified, Google will cease to display its password suggestions in login text fields.

This setting should automatically prompt Chrome to activate the default password manager set by the user on their Android smartphone. To modify the default password manager, users can go to Android settings and click on Passwords & accounts > Passwords, passkeys, and data services and select their preferred password manager.
